Epoxy Bullet Bar
Yep! You heard me correctly! I epoxied a bunch of bullets on my basement bar top....
I like to be different, I came across Epoxy Pennies and I thought, why the heck has no one epoxied empty (or loaded) bullet casings anywhere?
With all the shooting Daron does, he has collected hundreds and hundreds of his empty rounds in hopes of reloading them- but i got to them first!!!!
1. I started by pulling off the hideous fake wood sticker set on top of the bar.
2. I then painted the bar top black
3. Paint the trim that I am going to nail to the side of the bar- This was a step that I did last, BIG mistake! I was not able to paint the sides that were attached to the bar and because the epoxy is clear, you can see the creme wood color the trim :-( DON'T MAKE MY MISTAKE!
4. With small nails, I added a trim to both sides of the bar- this helps so the epoxy didn't just spill over the sides.
5. Scatter empty shell cases EVERYWHERE!
***For the shells I used 9mm, 380, 45acp 223, and 7.62x39.... You can use whichever casings you want but keep in mind, the bigger the shell, the more epoxy needs to be laid.... which is another mistake I made. The 45acp bullet shells made me have to use an additional 2 boxes of epoxy! Never again....
6. I used Rust-Oleum Parks1-qt. Gloss Super Glaze Finish and Preservative found at Home Depot for $24.95. I anticipated needing 2-3 boxes but because of the darn 45mm shells, I used 6 boxes and could have probably used one more to keep it completely flat everywhere.
**This stuff is self leveling and pretty easy to work with- Thanks to our basement guest, Cody who owns his own epoxy flooring business- he was able to help guide me in the world of epoxy.
Obviously the bar bottom needs to be painted and re-vamped but more on that later! I am deffinitely getting to it!
