Do it Once. Do it Right....
If only this was my motto... unfortunately, it's more like try to do it, can't get through the first step, throw a few things, do it about 3 more times (and with the help of others).
Not today! Today, I realized I HATE waiting for someone to help me and even more then that, I HATE having to ask for help. So instead of doing a project in a few hours with some help, I am spending multiple days doing this project myself.
After lots of research of what backer board I should use when building a tiled shower, I chose to use HardieBacker 1/4" cement board. It is light enough for me to move myself, doesn't use any scary saws to cut, and pretty easy to drill through.
I watched several YouTube channels and read many more articles on how to correctly install the HardieBacker Board. The boys told me I didn't have the tools to cut it so I put it off another day and did even more research. When I realized I didn't want to put it off any more, I decided to start by hanging the large pieces that did not need to be cut. I went to move the first one and put a little too much pressure on part of the board and it snapped in half. Typically I would be pretty pissed but I realized if I can that easily break it, I can cut it pretty easily as well! YAY!
I made the appropriate measurements and used a score knife to cut the board. After 3 slices down the same area, it easily snapped in half where I had made the lines.
Wall 1 is done, now I need to spend another day figuring out how to install the backerboard onto the masonary (concrete) wall.... Oh boy.
(picture was before framing was done, still need to add another 2x4, don't judge)
