The Miraculous Kitchen Update
This project, by far had the biggest improvement out of all my projects I've done so far. It all started with the backsplash.... I knew I wanted a stone backsplash. I have always loved these and I just NEEDED to have it!
I wanted the perfect tile, and unfortunately that meant it was not on sale :-( BUT, I'm so happy with my choice and I'm reminded of it everyday by how beautiful it came out that it was well worth it.
This was the first time I had to measure the square footage of anything. I did it on my own to learn but now, I use a handy website that calculates it for me. Check out Calculator Soup for an accurate and easy calculator! *Once you have the sq footage, estimate about 10% more for any waste.
My handy dandy friends, Andrea and Dayna came over to help me (both have lots of experience in the DIY field). After several runs to the hardware store- because we kept forgetting things, we were able to finally start. But wait, we realized we didnt have a tile cutter so this time, I sent them so I didnt have to go a 4th time. Good thing for these girls, they like to save money like me... to purchase a tile saw, it would cost $100. To rent one for the amount of hours we would need, about $80. As you can see, clear as day- buying one for $20 more makes way more sense!
So after a long Saturday, and many trips to Home Depot, we finished! What a relief and how beautiful!!!!
